Only The Best Bistro Tables If you’ve ever been in a restaurant, a coffee shop or a bar that has outdoor seating then you have seen those small but functional tables which those establishments use. Bistro tables are called such because they were primarily designed and specifically constructed for outdoor use. The classic bistro table is made from wrought iron with twisting legs and chair backs that are usually seen on the grass or just outside the backyard door. However, design innovations as well as practicality has pushed the bistro tables from being a mere outdoor or backyard furniture to one that can be used in small indoor spaces, or even as an accent piece.

Bistro tables can be used for the balcony or the porch as a cozy breakfast nook. In commercial places like restaurants and cafes, sometimes the bistro table acts like a decorative furniture for the foyer or the lobby. Inside the home it can be a good alternative for a kitchen table conveniently tucked in one corner, a game table in the family room or for a couple living in a studio apartment, it can already be the dining table. It can also be placed inside the bathroom where it can hold small toiletry items. There are also different materials used for making the table – from wood, wicker, aluminum, steel and even glass top. For outdoor use, the typical and most preferred choice is still steel, and cast aluminum as they are considered more durable and can withstand weather changes. In terms of design and color, there is such a wide array to choose from that actually selecting which to purchase can be quite a challenge. They can come from the simplest structure to the most ornately detailed and elegant styling. If you think you cannot find a specific design you have in mind or what you believe will complement your home, then you can go to a professional designer or a furniture manufacturer and discuss the bistro table or set that you have in mind. Restaurants, Cafes and Bars:Tall, Small, Bistro For All The traditional french bistro set would have matching chairs, table and for outdoor purpose, an umbrella to go with it. Recent eclectic design trends however have made complementing table and chairs, or mix-and-match set look as good, as long as it fits the whole design concept of the room or the space. The standard bistro table top is about 2 feet in diameter. For tall bistro tables, the stools would need to be higher and typically come with backrests. Outdoor bistro chairs can also either be light, portable and with folding backs – perfect for moving around the backyard, or heavy and hard like wrought iron. When you choose bistro chairs or stools it is a good idea to measure the chair height and table height. Standard height for bistro table is 34” to 36” and bistro stools at 25” to 26” high. Individual preferences may vary but comfort should always be a primary criterion for the selection. Since bistro tables are small, chairs must not be more than 4, otherwise it will be too cramped. |
